ABSTRACT:
The niqab is a
controversial subject in the Arab society due to the debate concerning its
origins. Our society could
perceive niqabis as oppressed and constrained. This
thesis aims to showcase the niqab in a more positive light by
attempting to
shift social norms and identities that empower niqabis to let go of the fear of
social judgments. This
inquiry explores the theme of individual motion and
social meanings using photographic images and Arabic lettering.
It seeks a
balance of whimsical and realistic viewpoints through a collection of varied
design outcomes. A new
perspective is introduced through the cultural
expression of Arab society that avoids westernized representations.
These
outcomes will be assessed reflectively for their achievement of cultural
production.
